Conduct Manual Tasks Safely

Workplace injuries related to manual handling tasks can be a common occurrence. That’s why it’s crucial to understand how to undertake these tasks safely. Employees risk making mistakes and suffering from serious injuries without proper training, especially when working with hazardous substances or activities.

This course provides comprehensive training on manual handling techniques, risk assessment, and control measures. Participants will learn to identify potentially hazardous manual tasks and the associated risk factors. They will also gain knowledge of the body’s movement function, proper posture, and positioning techniques, as well as how to recognise and report symptoms of an injury.

The skills taught in this course comply with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards, and industry codes of practice, such as the Hazardous manual tasks code of practice. After completing this course, you will have the confidence and knowledge to safely perform manual handling tasks and minimise the risk of workplace injury.

Course Information

Important information prior to enrolment

  • Online with an in-person face to face assessment at the location specified at the time of the booking or in the workplace in a suitable training area.

  • Participants must be physically able to perform practical demonstrations such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and rescue breathing techniques on manikins.

    Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet, or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

  • Refresher training – 2 hours (minimum) face-to-face course – conditions apply for this option; for example, you must provide previous and current certificates.

  • Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the following sections.

  • The certificate needs to identify industry-recommended renewal; employers should consult with stakeholders to determine appropriate training periods.

  • Please refer to our booking calendar for individual course fees.

    Payment Terms – Payment for individual participants is upfront, and group booking payment terms are based on an agreement between the client and service provider.

  • No work placement will be required as part of this course.
